Question by Jennifer: What is the relationship between chromosomes numbers in body cells and sex cells?
i need an answer very quick because i have a test on friday. thanks for helping me

In body cells (somatic cells) the amount of sets of chromosomes can be denoted by 2n. This type of cell is called a diploid cell. In sex cells, otherwise called gametes, the amount of sets of chromosomes can be denoted by n.
Overall, the number of chromosomes in gametes, or sex cells, like sperm and eggs is half the amount that is in the regular body cells, or somatic cells.
So if a sperm (haploid) has 10 sets of chromosomes, then the zygote (diploid) will have 20 sets. REMEMBER: this only happens in meiosis.
